Position Overview:
The Marketing Assistant II supports both the UCO School of Music and the College of Fine Arts and Design (CFAD) Marketing and Communications office by creating content and developing strategies for social media promotions and digital/print marketing. This role involves coordinating marketing campaigns managing event promotions and supporting the School of Musics public presence. The position plays a key role in supporting student recruitment audience engagement and overall visibility for the School of Musics extensive calendar of performances and programs.

The UCO College of Fine Arts and Design (CFAD) is a hub for artistic excellence and innovation in arts education. Founded in 2001 CFAD includes six academic units: the Department of Art Department of Dance School of Design Department of Theatre Arts School of Music and the Academy of Contemporary Music. The college hosts over 200 public arts events annually emphasizing close faculty mentorship creative leadership and interdisciplinary collaboration. CFAD holds specialized accreditations from NASM NASAD and CIDA. Learn more at Specific Essential Job Functions:
Create schedule and monitor content for the School of Music and CFAD social media platforms.
Assist with writing editing and distributing digital and print marketing materials.
Coordinate campaign timelines assets and messaging to align with institutional goals.
Design visual content including social media graphics flyers ads posters and signage.
Collaborate with faculty and staff to promote student performances recruitment initiatives and department milestones.
Assist with promotional events including concerts auditions open houses and tours.
Compile and update contact lists promotional packets and email campaign segments.
Track engagement data and assist with social media analytics and reporting.
Stay up-to-date on social media trends and recommend improvements for outreach.
Participate in team meetings brainstorming sessions and strategy planning.
Ensure that all communication materials adhere to UCO branding and accessibility guidelines.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Experience Required:
General education or vocational training and three or more years of relevant experience in marketing communications social media or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Qualifications/Experience Preferred:
Experience in a higher education or arts-related setting.
Direct experience with social media content strategy and campaign development.
Experience designing and producing visual content using Adobe Creative Suite (especially InDesign Illustrator and Photoshop).
Familiarity with event promotion content planning and analytics.
Understanding of accessibility best practices for digital and social media communications including familiarity with WCAG guidelines alt text video captioning and inclusive design principles.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Experience in music or other performing arts is preferred.
Strong understanding of platform-specific social media best practices and audience engagement strategies.
Ability to adapt messaging and creative assets for different channels and target groups.
Excellent writing and editing skills with attention to detail and tone.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines independently.
Positive service-oriented attitude and strong interpersonal communication skills.
Comfortable receiving feedback and adjusting strategies based on performance insights or direction.
Basic video editing and photography experience is a plus.
Familiarity with social media management tools (e.g. Meta Business Suite Buffer Hootsuite).
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office especially Excel and Word.
Awareness of accessibility principles in digital communication and willingness to contribute to UCOs ADA compliance goals.
