Are you passionate about empowering refugees and immigrants to achieve financial independence and stability Do you want to make a meaningful impact in a diverse multicultural community CAPI a leading nonprofit organization is looking for a dedicated Farmers Market Part-time Coordinator to join our Community Advocacy team.
CAPIs mission is to guide refugees and immigrants in their journey toward self-determination. Key organizational values are rooted in equity inclusion and accessibility. Today we are an inclusive multi-lingual and immigrant-led nonprofit serving new refugees and immigrants including Minnesotas Asian East and West African and Latinx communities as well as underserved US born communities. Over 10000 individuals are served annually across four core service areas of Community Advocacy Refugee Services Economic Empowerment and Civic Engagement.
The responsibility of this position is the overall coordination and operation of the Brooklyn Center Farmers Market. This primarily means recurring operation of the Thursdays Farmers Market through communication with vendors onsite supervision of the market financial tracking of daily funds and connecting with participants to build rapport and relationship. As a part of the Community Advocacy Department this role is highly relational and focuses on connecting with those utilizing the program building rapport with them and getting a deep understanding of their unique life situation to better direct them to support. Importantly this role will operate as a strong source of connection to the community elevating their stories and voices to inform both programmatic approach within CAPI and policy initiatives outside of.
8 hours weekly Thursdays with a $30 hourly wage

Job Description
Able to work effectively in a mission-driven agency whose clients and staff exhibit significant diversity with respect to race ethnicity gender orientation socio-economic status nationality and religion.
This position is located at the Farmers Market every Thursday and also at the Temporary food shelf location at Shingle Creek Center (set up and teardown materials are located). The building is accessible and smoke free. This position works partly during works hours and goes into evening hours. Farmers Market hours are 1pm til 6pm.
