ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
An opportunity has arisen for a Laboratory Steward to join our growing team providing independent testing and consultancy services to the fuels and lubricants sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting our analysis of fuels and lubricants in the teams test laboratories.
Key activities:
- Perform general housekeeping to ensure the smooth running of the department
- Daily collections of samples from on-site stores (using the vehicle provided) and other ad-hoc deliveries/collections as required
- Removal of samples from the laboratories for long-term storage or disposal
- Maintaining adequate stocks of chemicals gas cylinders and other consumables in the laboratories
- Assistance with moving laboratory equipment on an ad-hoc basis and other manual handling tasks including changing gas cylinders
- Assist with consumables management by maintaining a log of current holdings
- Preparation of customer sample kits
- Use of a computer-based system to log samples
- Assist with performing equipment calibrations and checks
- Basic sample testing all training will be provided
- Provide general support to the laboratory as tasked by the laboratory management
