What were looking for:
DRP is currently seeking a full-time Medical Receptionist. The Medical Receptionist is responsible for greeting and checking in on all patients for office appointments as well as making sure patients fill out paperwork correctly. The Medical Receptionist will also scan patient information into the electronic medical record (EMR) system and work closely with physicians and staff. The Medical Receptionist is responsible for scheduling and interacting with patients via telephone face to face email and performs a range of duties which includes gathering required information in preparation for the patients on-site appointment. The Medical Receptionist is responsible for working with insurance companies and processing weekly invoices.
Compensation Range:The pay range for this position is $40000-$45000 per year and is based on non-discriminatory factors such as skills and experience. This is a non-exempt role that is eligible for overtime compensation.
The Ideal candidate will:
- Serve patients by greeting and helping them scheduling appointments and maintaining records and accounts.
- Welcomes patients and visitors in person or on the telephone and answering or referring inquiries.
- Optimize patients satisfaction provider time and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments in person or by telephone.
- Keep patient appointments on schedule by notifying provider of patients arrival reviewing service delivery compared to schedule and reminding providers of service delays.
- Comfort patients by anticipating patients anxieties answering patients questions and maintaining the reception area.
- Ensure availability of treatment information by filing and retrieving patient records.
- Maintain patient accounts by obtaining recording and updating personal and financial information.
- Obtain revenue by recording and updating financial information recording and collecting patient charges controlling credit extended to patients and filing collecting and expediting third-party claims.
- Maintain business office inventory and equipment by checking stock to determine inventory level anticipating needed supplies placing and expediting orders for supplies verifying receipt of supplies and scheduling equipment service and repairs.
- Protect patients rights by maintaining confidentiality of medical personal and financial information including obtaining authorizations for clinicians from insurance companies.
- Maintain operations by following policies and procedures reporting needed changes.
- Contribute to the teams effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Verify the providers determination of services provided and patient diagnoses via office and operative notes.
- Assist in the preparation of regularly scheduled reports editing documents and reports monitoring of email accounts and assisting with records.
- Support clients through the credentialing process to be paneled with various health insurance plans.
- Perform other duties assigned.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience providing administrative and medical billing support to a busy office and using Microsoft Office programs to complete daily tasks if required
- Very good knowledge of the most recent ICD (Diagnoses) codes and CPT codes
- Excellent knowledge of insurance companies (HMO BCBSM Medicaid Medicare etc.) and insurance claims requirements
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- The ability to work independently and take initiatives to complete tasks

- Knowledge of medical terminology
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associate degree preferred
- CMA/RMA certification required
- Training in medical billing is preferred
- 1-3 years of related experience in a similar role
- A valid and unrestricted State of Michigan Drivers License and insurance
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with Electronic Health/Medical Records Systems is required
