Position Summary
The Department of Mechanical Engineering is seeking a highly qualified graduate assistant (GA) in the broad areas of thermal-fluid sciences or solid mechanics for AY2025-26. The student will be assigned a faculty advisor and may be assigned one or more projects over the duration of the academic year. The student will have the opportunity to prepare documentation and give oral presentations that specifically highlight new knowledge gained over the course of the position. Career Readiness Learning Objectives: Critical Thinking Over the duration of the academic year the student will progressively develop enhanced critical thinking skills. The student will work closely with the faculty member to identify and develop these necessary skills. Career and Self Development Over the duration of the academic year the student will develop implement and perform tasks of increasing complexity under the guidance of the faculty member. This will include but is not limited to undertaking new areas of research planning and conducting experiments and effectively interacting with fellow students. Communications The GA will be expected to present the finding for their work at Celebrate Gannon in Spring 2026. Essential Functions: This position may involve some or all of the following: Take guidance from faculty mentor; attend meetings; work independently to achieve goals; other duties as assigned by faculty mentor within the scope responsibility and requirements of the position; Collaborate with other students on research projects; Prepare/give presentations in written and/or oral format; Show proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of applications (e.g. Word PowerPoint Excel); Prepare draft manuscripts; and Perform other duties as assigned by faculty mentor within the scope responsibility and requirements of the position.
Physical Demands
This position requires minimal physical demands but applicants should be able to safely lift 25 pounds and sit and/or stand for extended periods of time; be able to work in a busy environment.
Required Qualifications
Education Requires full-time enrollment in one of the following programs: MSE - MECH MSEM - ENGM MSME MSENG -M and an undergraduate degree in appropriate science or engineering discipline. University Mission Must be able to support and promote the Universitys Mission
Preferred Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in appropriate science or engineering discipline from accredited institution .

8:00AM-4:30PM Monday through Friday
