Job Description

Position Summary

The Admissions & Records Specialist is responsible for providing quality customer service to those who make contact with the Student Services Office. It is expected that this position effectively collaborate and consult with students faculty staff parents/families and other constituents in the community. The Admissions & Records Specialist must have a working knowledge and understanding of all major duties and tasks related to admissions/records. This position serves as the backup for the Director of Admissions and Recruiting and is expected to be able to assist in other areas of the college as needed.

  • Receive and process admission applications along with supporting documentation to facilitate timely matriculation of student enrollment.
  • Provide support and assist students in areas of admissions & student records including but not limited to preparing enrollment verification forms processing and evaluating student transcripts and assisting with registration and schedule changes.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of all major duties related to admissions & records. In the absence of the Director of Admissions & Recruiting assist other staff and make sound decisions concerning all admissions & records operations.
  • Foster a customer service environment for fellow employees students and visitors. Be an Ambassador for the College. Support the colleges initiative to maximize retention of current students and enable students to finish their collegiate goals.
  • Comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees the ACCS Chancellors Office and the College.
  • Participate in College functions (Award and Honor events Alumni Homecoming Commencement etc.).
  • Assume other work related responsibilities as delegated by an appropriately assigned College administrator.
  • Occasional travel/ overnight/ participation in off-site training conferences is required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as position requires occasional participation in off-campus and/or weekend workshops/events
  • Maintain accurate secure data of all student information in the Colleges administrative software database and electronic scanning system by complying with FERPA and institutional policies
  • Exemplify quality customer service
  • Possess effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to problem solve with appropriate cognitive ability
  • Experience working with computers and software comparable to Microsoft Office products

Qualifications

The Admissions & Records Specialist is required to have a Bachelors or higher degree from an accredited institution.
