The Team
The Child Protection Teams are a dedicated group committed to supporting children and families by collaborating closely with Indigenous and other cultural communities. As a member of this team youll work alongside other professionals in the rural community all focused on making a positive impact through respectful and culturally sensitive practices. This is an opportunity to contribute to meaningful work that truly makes a difference in the lives of children and families.

The Role
As a Travelling Child Protection Worker you will assess and respond to concerns of child abuse and neglect by interviewing families developing safety plans and determining if children need protection. Your work directly impacts the well-being of vulnerable children and youth helping to strengthen families and promote healthy development. The Travelling Child Protection Worker offers a unique opportunity to work in Northern BC while living in your current community. Youll travel and work for 10 days (Monday to Friday) from your assigned community office followed by 10 days (Monday to Friday) working from home or your headquarters/office location.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

1. Preferred Credentials:

  • Bachelors Degree or higher in Social Work or in Child & Youth Care OR Masters Degree in Educational Counselling Psychology/Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with completion of a practicum in family and child welfare OR
  • In-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who have a regular SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA) OR
  • A candidate may be considered equivalent when they are registered and a member in good standing with the BC College of Social Workers or has a letter from the College confirming that their application for registration has been approved.


2. Expanded Credentials:


Human Services fields include: Psychology Sociology Criminology Anthropology Early Childhood Education Indigenous Studies Education Theology or Nursing.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
