Senior Accountant
Employment Type: 40hrs / wk; Contract 3 months with potential for extension based on business needs
Location: Remote (Client Location - Australia)
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Team Leadership: None (Individual Contributor)
About the Role
As a Senior Accountant you will play a pivotal role in the financial operations of one of our valued clients in the education and advisory sector in Australia. This position offers the opportunity to engage with senior leadership including the COO and CEO and collaborate across multiple departments to deliver high-quality financial reporting support business initiatives and enhance financial processes.
This is a 3-month contract role ideal for professionals who can step in with confidence and hit the ground running. Depending on performance and business requirements there may be an opportunity to extend the contract beyond the initial term.

Key Responsibilities
Lead or support statutory obligations such as BAS GST and FBT submissions.
Manage cash flow forecasting month-end close processes and year-end reporting.
Oversee payroll accuracy accounts payable/receivable and supplier payments.
Reconcile general ledgers manage inter-company journal entries and handle financial consolidations.
Partner with external accounting providers for timely and accurate reporting.
Contribute to budgeting forecasting and financial performance analysis.
Document finance procedures and identify improvement opportunities.
Ensure compliance and operational efficiency across financial systems and processes.
Support international finance activities including subsidiaries in the UK or other regions.
Prepare monthly board-level finance reports.
Performance Milestones
Day Plan
First 30 Days:
Onboard with internal tools systems (e.g. Xero Power BI) and reporting structure
Establish rapport with the COO CEO and external accounting team
Conduct initial review of finance processes and begin contributing to month-end close
Within 60 Days:
Take ownership of cash flow forecasting and statutory reporting (BAS FBT etc.)
Begin preparing consolidated reports across multiple entities
Document finance processes and identify key areas for improvement
By 90 Days:
Fully manage monthly reporting cycles and liaise independently with external partners
Deliver actionable financial insights to support business strategy
Present financials and variance analysis for monthly board reports
Propose and implement at least one process improvement initiative
Requirements
Bachelor s degree in Accounting or Finance
CA or CPA qualified (or actively pursuing qualification)
4 6 years of experience in finance/accounting roles with increasing responsibility
Demonstrated success in multi-entity accounting and financial consolidations
Familiarity with compliance-related filings: BAS GST FBT
Previous work in a professional services SaaS or high-growth company
Preferred:
Proficiency with Xero and tools like Syft or Power BI
Knowledge of international accounting practices particularly in the UK
Ability to work independently and across global cross-functional teams
Interest in technology education or digital services sectors
