Job Description
Junior Accountant assists in managing financial records preparing reports and supporting senior accounting staff. Key responsibilities include data entry maintaining ledgers assisting with audits and preparing financial statements. They also handle tasks like accounts payable and receivable management payroll processing and month-end closing.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Record Management: Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records including journal entries ledgers and accounts receivable/payable.
Financial Statement Preparation: Assisting in the preparation of balance sheets income statements and other financial reports.
Reconciliations: Performing bank reconciliations and other reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
Payroll Processing: Assisting with payroll processing and related tasks.
Month-End and Year-End Close: Participating in month-end and year-end close processes.
Audit Assistance: Supporting senior accountants with audits and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
Tax Compliance: Assisting with tax preparation and filing.
Communication and Collaboration: Communicating with internal and external stakeholders regarding financial matters and collaborating with other departments.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field is often preferred.
Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills proficiency in accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks Xero) and strong communication skills are essential.
Experience: Some relevant work experience or internships may be preferred.
Additional Responsibilities:
Assisting with budgeting and financial planning.
Identifying and reporting any financial discrepancies.
Supporting senior accountants with various accounting projects
Work experience as an Accountant. Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Hands-on experience with accounting software like FreshBooks and QuickBooks. Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables.
