Sommelier

Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced and passionate Sommelier to join a luxury safari company based in the heart of Botswana. This role is ideal for a wine enthusiast with a refined palate and a flair for guest engagement looking to immerse themselves in a world-class safari environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain and update the wine list in coordination with the Regional Chef and Operations Manager
  

• Recommend food and wine pairings to guests tailored to their individual tastes and dining selections
  

• Assist in the preparation and service of wines and other beverages
  

• Implement and manage cost and quality controls
  

• Ensure the wine room is well-maintained and fully stocked
  

• Support and develop team members through structured capability development

Knowledge & Experience Required:

• Prior experience as a Sommelier Wine Steward/Stewardess or similar role in a high-end hospitality environment
  

• Proven ability to create thoughtful and refined food and wine pairings
  

• Strong knowledge of Southern African wines and wine regions
  

• Experience using Point of Sale systems (advantageous)
  

• Certification as a Sommelier or a qualification in hospitality preferred
