Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Community Planner/Outreach Specialist to join our Transportation & Environmental Planning team in the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area. The selected candidate will be responsible for translating complex technical concepts into comprehensible content and will play a crucial role in stakeholder engagement and public involvement efforts for major transportation infrastructure projects in the region.
The Community Planner/Outreach Specialist will be expected to:
- Report directly to the NY Metro Environmental Lead in the Transportation & Environmental Planning group.
- Oversee and execute stakeholder coordination and public involvement tasks for projects of varying scales and complexities.
- Develop and produce content for social media platforms press releases and newspaper publications ensuring accurate and timely dissemination of project information.
- Plan organize and facilitate client stakeholder and community meetings with a focus on effective communication and information exchange.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to create and deliver comprehensive presentations for both virtual and in-person meetings.
- Design implement and manage online survey campaigns to gather critical data and insights for project development and decision-making processes.
Qualifications :
Minimum Requirements:
- BA/BS in Communications Journalism Urban or Transportation Planning or related degree plus four years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven ability to support stakeholder communication media relations programs community outreach and/or special events.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Adobe InDesign and online survey tools.
- Ability to facilitate public and stakeholder meetings at client specified venues and times.
- Experience working with public sector clients in the transportation industry.
- Familiarity with conducting public outreach as part of the NEPA process.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
