Job Description

Job Summary

Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Human Resources the Senior Compensation Analyst is responsible for conducting in-depth analysis of classification/compensation data including market research job classification evaluations and salary benchmarking. Responsibilities include consulting services to assigned campus areas position classification compensation analysis and data management. Participates in providing training to departments on compensation and classification policies and practices.

Department Summary

The Human Resources (HR) department provides leadership and support for 1600 staff and nonacademic management employees in organizational development and effectiveness workforce planning compensation and classification recruitment and selection employment personnel policies and records professional development employee relations labor relations/collective bargaining performance management workplace violence prevention and employee recognition programs. HR also manages comprehensive and integrated benefits administration disability leave fee waiver employment verification HR information systems (HRIS) and employee information security for 2500 faculty management and staff employees.

Key Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in compensation theory practices and methodologies. Comprehensive knowledge of compensation functions as well as general knowledge of other areas of human resources
  • Demonstrated skill assisting management with developing solutions to a broad range of classification compensation and organizational design issues
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with various groups and other areas of human resources and complete multiple assignments on time
  • Thorough knowledge of HRIS systems with advanced excel computation/formulaic skills to build complex spreadsheet functionality

Education and Experience

  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university and three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in human resources. A graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year- for-year basis.

Salary and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Range:$75000 - $105000 annually

Classification Range: $56244 - $134676 annually

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience skills knowledge abilities education licensure and certifications and other business and organizational needs. The Anticipated Hiring Range referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Classification Range may be broader than what the University anticipates paying for this position based on internal equity budget and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
