Job Description

The State College Area School District is currently accepting applications for an anticipated Elementary Title I Reading Specialist to start the 2025-2026 school year.

The ability to establish relationships with students and collaborate with colleagues is critical to success in this position. The successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to diversity and recognize that equity and inclusivity are foundational to ensuringevery student has opportunities to grow thrive and fulfill their potential through caring responsive education.

The District seeks dynamic energetic student-focused educators with knowledge of both theory and practice specific to raising students literacy skills. Organizational and collaborative skills are critical to success in this position. The District is searching for candidates who demonstrate a commitment to professional growth and development and also possess a variety of professional experiences. Responsibilities include:

  • Administer targeted literacy interventions to individual and small groups of students daily using research and evidence-based strategies and resources.
  • Collaborate with MTSS teams and teachers to identify students literacy needs set learning goals and targets and problem-solve with MTSS teams teachers and principals to develop best practices for the continuous academic growth of students in literacy.
  • Assist with the collection of data and analysis of data results and support the sharing of findings with MTSS teams.
  • Review student achievement and assist with placing students in appropriate reading and intervention and support services.
  • Meet regularly with MTSS teams to plan literacy instruction that correlates with the individual students needs based on data.
  • Attend professional development to enhance knowledge of pedagogy and content especially with the science of reading.
  • Provide support and professional development to enhance knowledge of pedagogy and content especially with the science of reading.
  • Maintain and submit accurate and up-to-date management records of all students progress and follow all federally required expectations of operating under a Title I program.
