Overview
Under direct supervision of a perioperative staff performs delegated functions including those of a Sterile Processing Technician Surgical Support Technician and Surgical Technologist. Assignments depends on the level of training completed. This position is a training role for the Surgical Technologist position.
Key Responsibilities
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties performed by personnel so classified.
1. Learns under the guidance of trained professionals the roles of Sterile Processing Technician Surgical Support Technician and Surgical Technologist.
2. Develops demonstrates and articulates an understanding of the sterile environment including but not limited to sterilization techniques implementation of aseptic technique instrument handling supply chain management equipment setup and assistance with procedures.
3. Develops and articulates an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the personnel working in Perioperative Services.
4. Develops demonstrates and articulates competency in infection prevention practices.
5. Participates in work development training to:
A. Develops and demonstrates communication skills to effectively communicate with all customers to render service manage conflict and to resolve problems. Refers difficult issues to the Supervisor for resolution.
B. Develops demonstrates and articulates computer skills and knowledge related to Perioperative information systems.
C. Develops demonstrates and articulates time management skills.
6. Achieves competence in each of the roles through on the job training and didactic education.
Qualifications :
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High School diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
Experience: Currently enrolled in accepted into or has completed an approved Surgical Technologist training program.
Licensure/Certifications: CPR certification is required.
