Instrument and Electrical Lead provides service to the water control systems for two water treatment plants five high mountain reservoirs three finished water reservoirs 40 non-potable pump stations and 100 plus telemetry sites on the transmission and distribution system. Work will be performed at all of these sites and will stat at the Reservoir Road location in Greeley Colorado.The Instrument and Electrical Lead is responsible for supervising and installing calibrating maintaining and repairing of electrical/electronic and pneumatic equipment instruments computer systems and related controls. Incumbent maintains and troubleshoots complex technical systems that could be located near/in high voltage and/or potentially hazardous processes and equipment; and fabricates and installs electrical and instrumentation systems including but not limited to control of process equipment electronic valves automatic level controls control panels remote control alarms conduit wiring load centers transfer switches and AC drives. The incumbent supervises a team of Instrument and Control Technicians.
Experience Knowledge Skills:
Minimum Requirements
- Associates degree in electrical or a related field
- Six (6) years of experience with electrical / electronic instrumentation control systems or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Colorado Journeymans Electrical licensure
- Arc Flash Certification or the ability to become certified within six (6) months of employment
OR
A combination of related education experience certifications and licensure that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job
AND
- Possession of a valid drivers license.
Preferred
- Supervisory experience
- Water or Wastewater system maintenance experience.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Experience in electrical systems.
- Experience in remote read control and the communication systems.
- Knowledge of GE Proficy iFIX 5.5 software Allen Bradly PLCs.
- Knowledge of National Electric Code NFPA Instrument Society of America standards and Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering standards.
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented collaborative environment

Essential Functions:
- Budgeting and planning of capital projects.
- Install maintain and calibrate equipment used in water and wastewater plants.
- Operate hand tools power tools and electronic and electrical tools.
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Plan organize supervise and schedule resources to meet program and service goals.
- Troubleshoot repair and calibrate electronic mechanical and pneumatic transmitting and controlling systems; repair and replace fuses breakers motor starters / VFDs motors and other electrical parts.
- Possess a working knowledge of predictive and preventive maintenance concepts and procedures.
- Troubleshoot and program in Allen Bradley PLC platform.
- Planning and scheduling of work orders and PMs.
- Creating work orders and PMs in CMMS system.
- Using proper grammar spelling and punctuation develop written communications including SOPs.
- Recommend system improvements to system operators or supervisor.
- Assist Engineering and plant staff with design and layout of electrical and automation systems.
- Review engineering specifications for multi-million dollar projects.

Travel: Approximately 25% local travel may be required to other City of Greeley sites for maintenance.

Work Environment
- Work location is a combination of field (50%) and office (50%).
- Exposure to adverse weather conditions.
- Exposure to various types of machinery noise some high decibel requiring the use of hearing protection.
- Frequent interaction with office and field staff.
- Exposure to hazardous chemicals.
- Exposure to high voltage systems.
- Employee is subject to extreme cold / hot with temperatures below 32 degrees Fahrenheit or above 100 degrees Fahrenheit for periods of more than one hour; consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions such as wind and humidity.

- Employee may be asked to drive personal vehicle for business purposes.

- Frequent interruptions and required to manage competing priorities with inflexible deadlines.
- Occasional contact with the public in person via email / telephone sometimes facing adverse or confrontational situations with interna l /external customers.
- Dangerous to considerable hazards reflect a frequent exposure to conditions that are unpredictable and may lead to injury e.g. performing field activities on uneven rocky and slippery surfaces risk of drowning.
- Be able to respond within 30 minutes for emergency service calls.
Physical Requirements
- Employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data/figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading of printed materials; visual inspection involving small defects small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices such as graphs and gauges; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes and identifying materials necessary to complete maintenance on equipment.

- Manual dexterity to operate computers tools equipment and vehicles.
- Flexibility enough to bend twist and reach as to load and unload equipment supplies or tools.
- Stamina and strength enough to lift and move up to 50 pounds for extended distances.
- The essential functions of this job require frequent balancing bending / stooping carrying / lifting light to heavy objects climbing fingering grasping repetitive motion hearing sitting standing talking and walking.
- Occasionally the employee will be required to pull push reach feel temperature and kneel.
