  • Role Type: Permanent Full time.
  • Department and Location: Food Services The Mater hospital North Sydney
  • Salary: 42.36 44.68 AUD base per hour.

About The Role:

This rewarding opportunity will see you join the Mater Hospital in North Sydney as Executive Chef in our Food Services Department.

  • Daily supervision through hands on direction and support of the production team facilitates kitchen operations including menu planning recipe development preparation production and presentation of meals for patients doctors staff and functions.
  • Training and development and support of production staff to meet the needs and expectations of our stakeholders within defined quality nutrition finance and food safety standards.
  • Ensuring that food preparation and presentation occurs in accordance with standard recipes and portion control guidelines.
  • Facilitates communication between the staff and Management.
  • Participates in team and hospital activities as agreed with food and Environmental services manager.
  • Ensure staff levels are adequate and within budget. Overtime and staffing requirements are discussed with the Food Services Manager to ensure the most effective staff placement.
  • Participating in budget preparation in relation to planned staff changes training needs equipment redundancies maintenance requirements and purchases for consideration by Food Services Manager.

About You:

  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery.
  • Minimum 2 years food production processing cooking experience in any healthcare setting applicable to a bulk food production unit.
  • Internal Auditing experience to meet Food Safety Legislation.
  • Proven capacity for innovative menu planning and recipe development.
  • Proven experience and success in the training development and support of staff.
  • Hands-on experience in production service and presentation.
  • Proven record in management in Food Safety & WH&S Programs.

About The Mater:

In this role you will be based at the Mater hospital North Sydney.

  • One of Sydneys premier private hospitals.
  • Close by to train stations at North Sydney St Leonards and Crows Nest and buses on Pacific Highway.
  • The only Australian hospital that is a member of the International Society of Orthopaedic Centres.
  • Core specialties include Obstetrics Orthopaedics including hip and knee joint replacements bone and sports injuries cardiology cancer care and surgery lung and vascular medicine ear nose and throat surgery urology endocrine surgery and neurosurgery.
