$115781.00 - $144726.00Position Purpose
Reporting to the Director of Investments the incumbent ensures the oversight and management of investments within the Universitys Long Term Pension Plan and Treasury portfolios.
The incumbent also ensures the oversight and management of investment performance and risk analytics for the University investment portfolios through the development and implementation of relevant monitoring and reporting tools; these tools are designed to meet the requirements of performance measurement and portfolio risk objectives as well as responsible investment sustainability objectives.
In this role you will:
- Provide high-quality analytical support to the Director for a wide range of functions in the management of the Universitys investment programs to ensure accurate information that will facilitate the investment decision-making process. This includes quantitative analysis of data and preparation of various charts schedules and other information for reports to management and/or various committees as required.
- In collaboration with the Director of Investments develop and implement the monitoring and reporting tools required to holistically manage the performance of investments and the responsible investment approach; in the process also ensure that all portfolios are managed in a sustainable fashion in accordance with the Universitys established guidelines. Maintain a strong and collaborative working relationship with the Universitys custodian.
- Develop implement and maintain an effective cash flow forecasting model to ensure financial obligations are met. Consult with the Director of Investments and keep abreast of cash requirements for major investment transactions such as contributions dispositions portfolio transitions and portfolio rebalancing; also consult with Finance to remain aware of cash requirements from the Universitys perspective. Oversee the execution of transaction requirements for private market investments (such as capital calls/distributions) and other investment transactions. Prepare liquidity investment income and other projections and forecasts whenever required. Prepare schedules and reports for the Universitys audits (for activity related to the investment portfolios).
- Conduct comprehensive review and analysis of third party monthly and quarterly investment performance calculations as well as financial statements and reports from the custodian and external managers to validate accuracy. This includes review of portfolio analytics (e.g. style adherence and statistical characteristics) diversification analysis and risk exposures to assess compliance with policies and guidelines and identify undue risk exposures so that action plans can be developed.
- Identify recommend and implement ongoing improvements to ensure efficiency in performance of required functions and to stay current with industry developments and best practice in responsible investments and investment performance analysis.
What you will bring:
- An undergraduate degree in Commerce or Business Administration or a related discipline.
- A professional designation in a relevant investment industry discipline i.e. CFA and/or CPA is required or demonstrated knowledge and experience at such a level.
- Expertise in relevant investment industry disciplines and best practices normally acquired through experience with financial research and modeling in an institutional investment organization or similar environment.
- Sound knowledge of investment sustainability performance and risk analysis including ESG integration developed by five to seven years of progressively more responsible relevant or equivalent investment experience and completion of professional industry accreditation programs.
- Experience in interpreting and applying complex policies and procedures.
- Experience and expertise with computer applications and proficiency with complex Excel spreadsheets is an essential skill. Experience with Power BI would be considered an asset.
- Ability to apply good judgement and show initiative by working independently and creatively to solve problems and conduct analysis supported by facts.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with colleagues at different levels of the organization and a broad spectrum of external contacts.
- Bilingualism (English and French) both spoken and written is strongly preferred.
