ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Feed Allocation Specialist you will coordinator all feed allocation activities for the Grassdale Feedlot and drive continuous improvement and operational excellence in feed allocation. The key responsibilities of the role are:

  • Supervise and monitor the performance of all Grassdale Allocation employees as well as directing and scheduling their activities whilst striving for harmony and teamwork within the team.
  • Identify and lead continuous improvement activities that create commercial and cattle health benefits within the scope of Feed Allocation.
  • Provide specialist expertise to internal and external key stakeholders regarding allocation activities that impact on average daily gain and consumption
  • Work directly with the consulting nutritionist and act as the key contact at Grassdale Feedlot to provide specialist allocation advice and expertise
  • Interpretation of data to make informed insights on allocation and cattle performance and make key recommendations in relation to performance and efficiency
  • Monitor the health and wellbeing of cattle feed manufacture allocation and delivery of ration to cattle
  • Monitor the daily consumptions of short and long fed cattle across starter and finisher phases to effectively maximise feed intakes and feedlot performance

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role you will have substantial experience in Feedlot activities and extensive knowledge of animal nutrition and cattle performance as it relates to a feedlot environment. A bachelors degree in animal science/ruminant nutrition is highly desirable. You will also bring

  • Substantial experience in feed allocation and techniques for enhancing cattle performance.
  • High computer literacy including the ability to collate and analyse data.
  • High level analytical skills with the ability to interpret results and relate the results to feed allocation and cattle performance.
  • Advanced interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively lead and supervise teams.
  • Good judgement and the ability to make timely practical and effective decisions.
  • Advanced organisational record keeping and data processing skills
