A Brief OverviewResponsible for development and maintenance of processes to assure that the OR and clinics across Avera receive sterile instruments for procedures. The CSPD Manager provides technical and direct management assistance to employees in CSPD and directs the operations of the department so that processes are smooth efficient and cost effective.
What you will do
- Assists with the development of immediate and future goals and objectives for the department. Responsible for development of policies and procedures to guide operations within sterile processing. Educates staff on these policies and monitors performance to assure adherence to the standards.
- Assists with budget preparation reflecting anticipated revenue and/or expenditures. Assists with the analysis of the budget and participates in action taken to assure that budgeted objectives are achieved and that cost and expense objectives are met.
- Develops a staffing plan for the department and maintains appropriate staffing levels to maximize efficiencies within the department.
- Serves as the resource for departments throughout the organization on sterility and sterile processing.
- Maintains current competence by reading professional journals attending webinars or conferences.
- Initiates and encourages continuous performance improvement activities within the department.
- Assists with the collection and maintenance of records as may be by law or regulation.
- Assumes daily management responsibilities within the department and works closely with the OR leadership to resolve issues of concern between the departments.
- Creates an educational and orientation plan for employees of the CSPD department.
- Assures that ongoing training is provided to assure staff competency. Encourages staff members to achieve certification in their specialty.
- Responsibilities include interviewing hiring developing training and retaining employees; planning assigning and leading work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Essential QualificationsThe individual must be able to work the hours specified. Required Education License/Certification or Work Experience:
- Bachelors from a 4 year college or university; or 1-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Registered Nurse (RN) - Board of Nursing Active license in the State of practice Upon Hire and
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) within 180 Days
- Management experience
