Job Description
FLSA Status: Exempt
Develop implement and continuously improve the comprehensive school counseling program.
Teach developmentally appropriate lessons and deliver group activities to promote academic career or social/emotional development.
Lead the academic advisement process with individual students to develop academic and career plans based on individual students interests abilities and post-secondary goals.
Monitor student progress and implement intervention strategies in collaboration with staff and families.
Support crisis intervention and conflict resolution efforts.
Serve as the liaison between the counseling department and school administration teachers families other schools and community resources.
Advocate for student needs and represent the counseling department in school-wide planning.
Provide staff development activities as needed.
Work collaboratively with the school administrative team on the student scheduling process.
Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to foster partnerships that support student success.
Analyze student data to identify trends and guide program planning and resource allocation.
Oversee college and career advising services.
Plan and execute events such as career fairs job shadowing experiences workforce visits presentations and informational workshops for students and parents.
Collaborate with post-secondary institutions and employers to enhance student opportunities.

- Masters degree in guidance counseling required.
- Candidate must possess or be eligible for a Virginia Teachers license in School Counseling Prek-12.
- Understanding of individual and group counseling models techniques and evidence-based practices.
- Knowledge of psychological emotional social and academic development across age groups.
- Familiarity with local agencies support networks and external resources for student and family support.
