SUMMARY: Direct institutional housekeeping/custodial services light maintenance work Painting. Ensures clean orderly and attractive conditions of establishment by performing the following duties personally. Physical work in housekeeping and domestic tasks in and around building and property. Grounds keepers can work in numerous outdoor settings where they perform tasks such as mowing lawns pruning trees and shrubs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and/or RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Snow removal from side walk and walk ways.
- Cuts lawns trims and edge trims trees.
- Periodic Inventory supplies and equipment prepares list of supplies needed.
- Ensures all work orders are properly documented for Detention Supervisor.
- Weekly inspection and documentation of all deficiencies
- Investigates new and improved cleaning instruments and methods.
- Cleaning of walk furniture fixtures offices storerooms and corridors and etc.
- Dust wax and polishes floors using brooms mops light and heavy types of vacuum cleaners floors scrubbers and buffers. Strips and waxes floors.
- Painting of walls doors.
- Degreasing of kitchen appliances and other various types of cleaning.
- Maintains a stock of cleaning materials and equipment to perform janitorial work notifies supervisor when more material are needed or when equipment is in need or repair or replacement.
- Cleans restrooms. Washes windows walls vents woodwork washrooms and fixtures.
- Empties ashtrays and waste baskets.
- Takes out trash for disposal
- Trash pick up in yard and immediate area of facility.
- Reports fires accidents hazards and any unusual conditions or malfunctions observed.
- Furniture assembly moving furniture
- Replenishes bathroom supplies
- Performs other duties assigned
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Must have a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
CERTIFICATES LICENSES and/or REGISTRATIONS:
- Must pass background check and pre-employment drug screen.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT:
- Must be able to push pull move and/or lift a minimum of 50-75 lbs. (pounds) to a minimum height of 3 feet and be able to push pull move and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of one-two feet.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS and/or ABILITIES:
- Must be reliable and dependable.
- Must have the ability to learn train and follow thorough instructions.
- The employee is responsible for keeping self drug-free for demonstrating knowledge of agency drug abuse policy and procedures. Must be aware of symptoms and signs of drug abuse and change in behavior reports appearances of unusual action to responsible official.
