The Communications and Events Specialist is responsible for leading and executing comprehensive communication marketing and event strategies that enhance the visibility and engagement of the Alumni Affairs department. This role oversees content development for print digital and web platforms; manages media relations and promotional activities; and supports branding efforts across multiple channels. Additionally the position plans and executes high-profile donor and alumni events ensuring strategic alignment operational excellence and stakeholder engagement. This role will collaborates with internal and external partners to ensure effective messaging measurable campaign outcomes and meaningful alumni and donor experiences.
Responsibilities:
Writes content for annual reports brochures flyers news releases technical papers proceedings newsletters posters and presentations and web.
Assists with press briefings media interviews advertising promotional activities and special events. Performing media relations activities for Alumni Affairs department.
Manage all communications analytics advertising and digital content. Oversee execution of all communications digital marketing (email/website) social marketing and creative production.
Demonstrate effective communication strategies between the division and its constituency. Overseeing the creation of effective marketing and communication campaigns and timelines; creating and implementing effective communication strategies; managing social media accounts; developing communication opportunities with stakeholders; recognizing donors and alumni through various platforms; reviewing metrics and outcomes for future engagement and communication strategies.
Development hosts high-end individual and corporate donors and off-campus including out-of-state events. Create event concepts select venues and budgets secure sponsorships handle logistics and event marketing negotiate with sub-contractors prepare expenditure reports and evaluate event effectiveness. Plan and manage event timelines coordinate the technical aspects and manage associated risks.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree
Four years of related experience.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to present information clearly and concisely.
