To provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in social studies and career exploration to help them develop competencies and skills to succeed academically and prepare for future career pathways. As a girls coach the position requires fostering athletic development sportsmanship and teamwork in a variety of girls sports programs.
Education/Certification:
Bachelors degree from an accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with appropriate subject and grade-level endorsements (e.g. Social Studies 48)
CDL (or willingness to obtain)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Strong knowledge of junior high social studies TEKS and career exploration standards
Ability to develop and deliver engaging lessons aligned with curriculum
Excellent classroom management communication and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of UIL rules and athletic program requirements
Ability to coach multiple girls sports (e.g. Cross country basketball track tennis golf powerlifting)
Ability to collaborate with colleagues parents and community partners
Instructional:
Teach junior high social studies in accordance with district curriculum and TEKS
Plan and deliver Career Exploration courses to help students understand career pathways employability skills and personal goal setting
Use a variety of instructional strategies and technologies to enhance learning
Assess student progress and maintain accurate records
Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students
Coaching:
Coach assigned girls athletic teams including organizing practices managing equipment supervising athletes and traveling to competitions
Promote physical fitness teamwork discipline and a positive competitive spirit
Supervise students during athletic periods before/after school practices and athletic events
Ensure compliance with all UIL and district athletic policies
Work under the direction of the athletic director to support athletic program goals
Other:
Communicate effectively with students parents and staff
Attend staff development faculty meetings and required school events
Uphold district policies and demonstrate professionalism at all times
Perform other duties as assigned
