Position: STEAM Teacher

Location: Houghton Elementary School

Pay: In accordance with the CBA Wachusett Regional Education Association Inc

The Wachusett Regional School District (WRSD) is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative educator to serve as Project Lead The Way STEAM Teachers. These positions support the integration of science technology engineering arts and mathematics through hands-on project-based learning experiences aligned with the Launch (K5) and Gateway (68) curricula. The STEAM Teacherwill report to the building principal.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging standards-based STEAM instruction across multiple grade levels using the PLTW programs.
  • Facilitate inquiry-based inclusive learning environments that foster student creativity problem-solving and critical thinking.
  • Manage lab equipment technology tools and classroom safety in alignment with PLTW best practices.
  • Support students in developing foundational skills in design coding engineering and digital literacy.
  • Collaborate effectively with classroom teachers specialists and district STEAM teachers.
  • Participate in annual PLTW core training and ongoing professional development.
  • Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student growth and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Promote equitable access to STEAM opportunities for all learners.
  • All duties as specified by the building principal.

Qualifications:

  • MA DESE licensure in appropriate grade level or related field (STEM/Science/Math/Computer Literacy/Tech-Eng Elementary).
  • PLTW training and/or experience in Launch and/or Gateway preferred (summer 2025 training will be provided if not yet certified).
  • Experience teaching elementary and/or middle school students in a hands-on technology-rich environment.
  • Strong communication organization and classroom management skills.
  • Commitment to inclusive student-centered instruction and interdisciplinary learning.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with design thinking makerspace tools coding platforms robotics and digital fabrication.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with students families and colleagues across schools.
  • Experience differentiating instruction to meet diverse student needs.
