Full-Time Live-In Housekeeper Washington DC (American University Area)
$75000$90000/year DOE Private Living Accommodations
Must Be Willing to Spend Summers on Nantucket (JulyLabor Day)
A warm energetic and independent 82-year-old woman is seeking a full-time live-in housekeeper to support the care and maintenance of her beautiful spacious home located near American University in Washington DC. This is not a caregiving role but rather a hands-on position requiring someone who can consistently manage daily housekeeping light cooking and general household operations with efficiency and good judgment.
About the Role
Schedule: MondayFriday 10 AM6 PM with occasional weekend coverage as needed (flexibility is important)
Living Arrangements: Private basement apartment with a separate entrance
Summer Relocation: Candidate must be willing to live and work in Nantucket MA from July through Labor Day with the same responsibilities and accommodations (a separate apartment provided). Occasional weekends off and one extra paid vacation week will be provided.
Primary Responsibilities
Daily housekeeping with focus on:
Bedroom: Making bed organizing laundry towels
Office and Kitchen: Tidying wiping down surfaces dishes restocking
General household cleaning throughout the week as needed (rest of house on a lighter rotating schedule)
Light cooking and meal prep (breakfast is solo but kitchen should be cleaned afterwards)
Laundry and linen care
Flower arrangements (1x per week)
Vendor communication (let in plumbers sign for deliveries speak with service providers)
Occasional grocery shopping and running errands
Pet care as needed (none currently but may be required in the future)
Ideal Candidate
Energetic positive patient and trustworthy
Physically active and capable (home has multiple staircases)
Self-starter who is organized efficient and proactive
Loyal and committed to long-term employment
Flexible with scheduling and travel
Strong communicator and comfortable speaking with vendors or tradespeople
Spanish-speaking is a plus but not required (principal is fluent and enjoys practicing)
Familiarity with the Washington DC area preferred
Driving is helpful but not required
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $75000 to $90000/year depending on experience. Can provide an insurance stipend as well
Housing: Private apartment with separate entrance in both DC and Nantucket
Vacation: Paid time off including an additional week during Nantucket stay
