In this role the Sr. Claims Specialist supports the organization by protecting its tax and unemployment insurance liability. Youll be responsible for researching and drafting timely responses to state unemployment claims often under tight deadlines. Youll also serve as a resource for internal and external contacts offering guidance on employment details and the companys unemployment policies and procedures.
The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of customer service experiencepreferably in HR or case management and strong communication skills and exceptional attention to detail.
Sr. Claims Specialist Responsibilities:
- Researches analyzes and investigates partner separations in collaboration with Partner Resources external contacts and cross-functional departments.
- Prepares and submits claim responses while providing timely courteous and professional follow-up to phone and email inquiries.
- Offers coaching and guidance to Partner Resources Generalists District Managers and Store Managers on interpreting unemployment policies and procedures.
- Delivers strong customer service by effectively managing expectations and addressing customer needs.
- Builds and maintains effective working relationships with internal teams partners vendors and external agencies.
- Manages multiple active cases ensuring timely follow-up and resolution; reviews and updates case documentation for accuracy and completion.
- Participates in cross-functional projects and initiatives to support successful program execution.
- Stays current on state-specific unemployment policies organizational procedures and industry best practices.
- Conducts research and analysis to maintain expertise in specialized state unemployment laws and regulations.
- Ensures the protection and confidentiality of personal information for both current and former partners.
Sr. Claims Specialist Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience in customer service or human resources; case management experience is a plus
- 3 years of experience in research analysis and problem-solving
- Associates or Bachelors degree in Human Resources or a related field preferred
- Experience working in large matrixed organizations (e.g. Amazon Nordstrom) is highly valued
- Background in retail or non-retail environments particularly in HR or contact center settings
- Familiarity with HRIS systems such as SAP ServiceNow or SuccessFactors is a strong plus
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to convey information clearly and professionally
- Proven ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with discretion
- Skilled in applying multidisciplinary business principles to support cross-functional initiatives and drive results
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; able to make sound decisions and provide accurate referrals
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced evolving environment
- Capable of conducting independent research and navigating multiple software platforms simultaneously
- Demonstrated customer service excellence with professionalism and composure under pressure
