INEOS Olefins & Polymers Europe (O&PEU) one of the companys key business units is the largest producer of olefins in Europe and one of the leading suppliers of polyolefins. With 14 polyolefin manufacturing units and a production capacity of 3 million tonnes O&PEU offers a comprehensive portfolio of polyethylene and polypropylene products. These polymers are engineered to deliver high-value solutions and are tailored to meet the specific needs of customers in targeted market segments enhancing various aspects of modern life.
The Catalyst Team is part of the Research & Innovation Department embedded within the INEOS O&P Europe business organization. It supports the medium- to long-term strategic objectives of the European US and Catalyst businesses. The teams primary mission is to deliver technical solutions and create value in alignment with the goals of INEOS Olefins & Polymers and INEOS Polyolefins Catalyst.
Following training in catalysis and polymerization processes for polyolefin production the Catalyst Technologist will contribute to a range of projects within the Technology Development Programs portfolio.
The Catalyst Technologist is responsible for ensuring the safe reliable and efficient operation of the catalyst laboratory. Reporting to the Catalyst Manager they contribute to the delivery of technical solutions within development projects meeting defined objectives timelines and budgets. They also play a strategic role in identifying new project opportunities through competitive intelligence in catalyst technologies. In addition they provide occasional support to manufacturing plants on catalyst production and application working under the guidance of plant process engineers.
Their responsibilities encompass the execution of catalyst synthesis and testing programs including work with high-throughput systems. The Technologist also leads efforts to improve synthesis methods testing tools and related protocols. A strong understanding of competitor technologies and industrial property in the field of polymerization catalysts is expected. The role may involve direct engagement with catalyst suppliers and collaboration with academic institutions. Furthermore the Technologist is involved in the design monitoring and interpretation of pilot plant studies while maintaining clear and effective communication across the organization.
Education and experience
Actively promotes and leads safe behaviors and practices
PhD in Chemistry Chemical Engineering or equivalent
Technical background in catalyst synthesis and/or polymerization of olefins is an advantage
Innovative mind-set
Ability to drive technical projects in full autonomy and proactive manner
Good ownership of problems and committed to find appropriate solutions
Time management and organization skills (ability to set priorities and meet deadlines)
Fluent in English and French
