Overview:

  • Full time continuing position
  • Salary HEW 9 ($130748- $140089) 17% Superannuation
  • Lead and support the College to achieve the highest quality safety and compliance standards
  • Based primarily at the City Campus but will be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University.

About the Role

The STEM College currently occupies 600 laboratories and facilities across the breadth of STEM disciplines carrying some of the highest risk to the University.

The Senior Manager Compliance and Risk is responsible for leading a new portfolio within the STEM College focused on ensuring the highest quality safety and compliance standards. In doing so they will provide expert advice and leadership to guide safe work practices and meet regulatory requirements that ensure ongoing safe and compliant operations. In addition the role will be responsible for overseeing the establishment and management of a framework that covers all aspects of risk health & safety regulatory assurance and compliance standards within STEM College.

Using this framework the Senior Manager Compliance and Risk will ensure that the STEM College effectively identifies assesses and manages risks. Working closely with each School the incumbent will develop implement and maintain processes policies and procedures that ensure adherence to legislation regulatory standards and accreditation requirements.

To be successful in this position youll have:

  • Extensive experience in health and safety risk assurance compliance management or a related field preferably in a large complex organisation.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards preferably as they are applicable to higher education and STEM disciplines particularly biosafety and biosecurity chemical management built infrastructure and equipment safety.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulations and standards and convey them clearly to a lay audience.
  • Exceptional negotiation and influencing skills enabling the provision of authoritative advice guidance and seeking cooperation in the delivery of services.

Qualifications

  • Postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience or an equivalent combination of extensive relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Certification in quality management or compliance (e.g. Six Sigma ISO) is desirable.

Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children Check and National Police Check and other checks as required by the specific role. Maintaining a valid Working With Children Check is a condition of employment at RMIT.
