The Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation is an educational agency of the Commonwealth of Virginia offering programs and resources about early American history through its museums Jamestown Settlement and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown.

Through industry and Commonwealth of Virginia best practices laws and policies our team of financial professionals provides all manners of support to the agency as a whole in support of our strategic goals and mission. Duties of this collaborative and cross-functional team include but are not limited to budget development tracking and forecasting planning data analysis accounting asset tracking and compliance.
Job Duties
To provide agency budget development execution of operating & capital budgets and Biennium planning. The position manages and coordinates internal budgets within the agency ensuring alignment between departments divisions and affiliates. Position acts as the primary finance liaison for the Museum Operations Division working to develop and implement budget strategies that align with division goals.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of budget planning principles including formulation evaluation and execution ensuring effective financial management and resource allocation
Demonstrated strong predictive analytical skills in conducting cost-benefit analyses solving complex problems and providing clear actionable takeaways that support effective decision-making for the Budget Manager.
Given the multiple responsibilities involving financial transactions grant management and compliance the ability to maintain attention to detail is crucial to ensure accuracy and prevent financial errors or mismanagement.
Proactively identifying issues such as discrepancies or potential budget impacts and finding solutions quickly to maintain financial stability is key to this role.
Ability to coordinate multiple budgets in alignment with agency objectives collaborate with program managers and review budget proposals for completeness accuracy and compliance.
Highly detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and communication skills both verbal and written.
Ability to prepare accurate financial statements and comprehensive written reports.
Proficient in automated accounting software and highly skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Word PowerPoint).
Preferred knowledge of state government operations including budget and finance policies and procedures along with experience in the non-profit sector.

Displaying a deep understanding of budgetary processes and regulations at both the state and organizational levels is crucial.
Possesses attention to detail and the ability to stay organized under pressure especially in ensuring that all records and documents are accurate and up to date.
Take the initiative to communicate important issues developments or changes to all relevant partieswhether they are co-workers stakeholders or external partners.
Promptly advises of inadequate resources or inability to complete work on a timely basis. Seeks clarification and asks questions when unsure of direction.
Exercise good judgment when determining which communication channels to use. Some issues may require formal communication (e.g. written reports emails or meetings) while others may be best addressed through informal discussions.
Be mindful of the audience and adjust communication methods accordingly to ensure clarity and appropriateness.

In the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor be prepared to assist the agency or the state government as needed. This could involve providing support in managing resources coordinating with other agencies or helping to execute emergency plans that align with the organizations capabilities.
May be required to perform safety and security functions as assigned by the agency and comply with appropriate laws rules policies and regulations.
