Where you ll be working
You will be working at a 779-bed hospital serving as the major trauma centre and only tertiary referral centre in Northern Queensland. The hospital provides a full range of specialty services and is considered the hub for health research in the region, with close ties to James Cook University's schools of medicine, nursing and allied health. It offers a state-of-the-art research space and ample opportunities for academic activities and clinical trial partnerships. This hospital delivers comprehensive mental health, rehabilitation, addiction assessment and treatment services across a number of settings including inpatient units, community care, residential rehabilitation, and supported accommodation.

As Consultant Psychiatrist, you will provide an advanced standard of clinical care through the provision of professional psychiatric intervention, direct clinical care, and recovery-focused treatment to patients and their families in a General Adult setting. You will perform psychiatric and somatic assessments, including comprehensive risk assessments of patients with psychiatric, emotional, and behavioural disturbances. You will have the opportunity to work on a highly varied and interesting casemix in a collegial, multidisciplinary team environment and a supportive framework of peer and operational support. You will also have the opportunity to undertake various research and teaching activities, including the supervision and education of junior doctors.

Salary information
Consultant Psychiatrists can expect a total remuneration package of up to $536,916 per annum, including a range of benefits and allowances.

Requirements
Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP), or equivalent. Psychiatrists eligible for the fast-track registration pathway are encouraged to apply.
