Shredder

The Shredder Operator is responsible for sorting plastic materials and feeding them into a conveyor system that leads to the shredding machinery. Tasks may vary depending on the specific shredder in use and operational needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Sort plastic materials and remove contaminants or foreign objects.
• Feed plastics manually or with equipment onto a conveyor that leads to the shredder or grinder.
• Monitor the shredder operation and report any abnormal noise jams or malfunctions.
• Clean up surrounding work area and shredding equipment at the end of each shift.
• Assist with changeovers or cleaning of shredders when switching material types.
• Communicate with other team members to ensure smooth and safe operations.
• Follow all safety protocols and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Willingness and ability to learn plastic sorting and shredder operation.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with PPE including gloves safety glasses steel toe boots and ear protection.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English or Spanish.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• No prior experience requiredtraining will be provided.
• Forklift certification is a plus but not mandatory.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Must be able to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Frequent exposure to dust plastic particles and loud noise.
• Work environment is industrial and may be hot cold or dusty depending on the season and material processed.
• Use of gloves respirators or dust masks may be required depending on material.
