Job Description

Shredder Maintenance Supervisor 2nd Shift
Carolina Metal Recyclers (CMR) Garner NC
A proud subsidiary of TT&E Iron and Metal

Pay: $100000 annually (or hourly equivalent depending on experience)
Schedule: Full-time 2nd Shift MondayFriday 3:30 PM 2:00 AM Weekends as needed

About the Role

Were looking for a hands-on highly motivated Shredder Maintenance Supervisor to lead 2nd shift operations at our Garner NC facility. Youll play a key role in keeping our metal shredding and downstream systems running smoothly from overseeing equipment maintenance to leading a skilled crew on the shop floor.

What Youll Do

  • Supervise and lead 2nd shift maintenance staff.

  • Oversee preventative maintenance diagnostics and repairs on:

    • Metal shredders

    • Conveyor systems

    • Light/heavy-duty equipment

    • General facility components

  • Troubleshoot mechanical and minor electrical issues.

  • Perform hands-on welding fabrication and repairs.

  • Respond to unplanned equipment downtime with urgency and expertise.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment and yard.

  • Enforce and lead safety protocols train staff on safety standards and best practices.

  • Collaborate closely with the Shredder Manager and provide regular updates.

What You Bring

  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in scrap handling recycling or manufacturing operations.

  • Solid hands-on experience with shredders conveyors loaders cranes and other heavy machinery.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot complex systems.

  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems and the ability to diagnose minor issues.

  • Proficiency in welding and metal fabrication is essential.

  • Good people skills able to lead motivate and hold your team accountable.

  • Working knowledge of various types of scrap metal and processing operations.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

  • Work outdoors for extended periods (810 hours).

  • Ability to weld and cutusing oxyfuel equipment.

  • Assist and lead in the installation alteration and repair of shredding and processing components.
