The Desktop Support Technician is part of the Help Desk team and provides technical assistance support and maintenance for the Countys computers related computer equipment telephones and audio/video equipment to deliver a high level of availability and reliability. The Desktop Support Technician is required to provide excellent customer service resolve problems in a timely manner communicate effectively and be a positive contributor to the Denton County Technology Services team.

Examples of Duties

  • Provides end-user support and customer service as the initial point of contact on the IT Help Desk.
  • Responds to service requests in a proactive and timely manner.
  • Maintains user identity and access rights for various systems including network access control etc.
  • Installs tests and troubleshoots computer hardware software and peripheral equipment for various County computer systems.
  • Troubleshoots and installs telephone equipment.
  • Troubleshoots audio / visual systems.
  • Provides mobile device support.
  • Maintains hardware inventory and portions of Active Directory.
  • Follows all county security and privacy policies and best practices to protect county information and assets within his/her control.
  • Maintains documents and files related to work completed.
  • Creates and generates reports as needed.
  • Confers with department heads and elected officials to schedule computer installation and maintenance.
  • Regular and punctual attendance is required.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED and a minimum three years of experience in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
  • Bachelors Degree preferred.
  • Position may require various computer or technical-related certifications.
  • Possession of a valid drivers license required. Must obtain a valid Texas drivers license within 90 days of employment.
  • Must not have any Class B misdemeanor or higher convictions or deferred adjudications.
