Transcribe legal dictation including judicial opinions motions briefs pleadings and memoranda.
Format and prepare legal documents from handwritten notes draft text and voice recordings.
Assemble and organize legal filings and ensure documents adhere to court formatting standards.
Maintain case files docket records and correspondence in an orderly and confidential manner.
Handle incoming communications: receive visitors screen calls manage calendars and coordinate appointments and meetings.
Manage mail processing including opening reviewing and distributing correspondence.
Exercise sound judgment in making administrative decisions that impact office procedures and workflow.
Compose routine correspondence and internal memoranda independently or based on oral instructions.
Perform related administrative and clerical duties as required.
High school diploma or equivalent supplemented by formal secretarial or legal assistant training.
At least five years of experience in legal secretarial or stenographic work preferably in a court or legal office environment.
Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities will be considered.
In-depth knowledge of legal terminology court procedures and document formatting standards.
Proficiency in business English grammar spelling and punctuation.
Advanced transcription and typing skills with a strong focus on accuracy speed and detail.
Strong organizational and record-keeping abilities; capable of compiling clear and comprehensive reports.
Experience using legal databases and case management systems to extract relevant materials.
Professional communication skills with the ability to handle confidential information tactfully.
Excellent telephone etiquette and interpersonal skills especially when interacting with court personnel and the public.
Strong judgment and discretion in managing sensitive issues and workload priorities.
Satisfactory criminal background check required.
35 hours per week (Monday-Friday)
