Job Description
At PSD Energy were delivering critical infrastructure projects across Australia from substations to solar and wind farms and cutting-edge battery storage solutions. Were seeking an experienced and detail-driven Senior Electrical Estimator to join our team and play a key role in securing the next generation of energy projects.
About the Role
Youll be responsible for managing the full estimating lifecycle for major electrical infrastructure projects. Working closely with our engineering procurement and project delivery teams youll ensure the accuracy competitiveness and timeliness of all submissions while mentoring junior estimators and contributing to business strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and prepare detailed cost estimates for electrical infrastructure including HV substations solar farms wind farms and BESS ensuring precision competitiveness and alignment with project specifications and client requirements
- Review and interpret technical drawings single-line diagrams specifications and scopes of work to fully understand tender requirements and identify project-specific complexities
- Engage and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors building strong relationships and securing accurate competitive pricing across a range of materials and services
- Identify cost risks and margin improvement opportunities and present value-engineering options or alternative construction methodologies to maximise commercial outcomes
- Prepare and coordinate bid submissions ensuring all documentation from BOQs to pricing schedules is complete compliant and professionally presented
- Maintain and enhance internal pricing databases labour and equipment rates and benchmarking systems to support ongoing estimating efficiency and accuracy
- Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders including Engineering Procurement Project Delivery and Commercial teams to ensure estimates are technically and commercially aligned
- Contribute to tender reviews negotiations and handovers playing a key role in early project planning and strategic decision-making
- Mentor and support junior estimators contributing to capability development and continuous improvement across the pre-contracts function
About You
- Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical estimating within infrastructure or renewables
- Strong understanding of HV systems and renewable project delivery
- Commercial acumen and the ability to build strong relationships with suppliers and stakeholders
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with estimating software
- Proven leadership and mentoring capability
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
