Job Description

Description of Work


We are looking for candidates who have a passion for helping at-risk youth.
We areWorking Together to Strengthen North Carolinas Youth and Families!

This is a REPOST. Previous applicants are still under consideration and do not need to reapply.

This position is a 12 month English teaching position atRockingham Youth Development Center in Reidsville NC.

Salary is based on the NC Teaching Salary Schedule plus a 6% supplement.

This position provides students with direct instruction in English utilizing the Common Core State Standards and NC Essential Skills.

Teachers will be responsible for:

  • Planning lessons based on the Common Core/Essential Standards and students individual learning needs.
  • Ensuring success with EC students while providing appropriate and engaging activities to teach concepts.
  • Providing research-based interventions to provide an appropriate education for EC students.
  • Utilizing data to inform all instructional activities based on the NC Standards.
  • Implementing IEPs
  • Keeping all student records exceptional childrens program paperwork and student progress up to date.

This position requires the ability to:

  • Observe and communicate observations and recommendations effectively in oral and written form.

Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position. Work hours for this position are Monday-Friday 7:30AM-4:00PM.

Management Preference:These skills are not required but managers may choose to interview/select applicants who demonstrate Management Preferences.

  • Experience interpreting the laws that govern programs for students with exceptionalities and applying best practices.
  • Experience implementing IEPs for students with exceptionalities and applying best practices.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Highly Qualified valid A or M NC teaching license in either middle or high school Science subjectsOR eligible to hold a NCDPI issued license in Middle School or High School English.
