  • Temporary full-time role until 30 April 2027*
  • 35 hours per week
  • Location: Wagga Wagga Cowra or Orange
  • Technical Officer Grade 1-3 Salary from $73522 - $113 562
  • This opportunity is open to DPIRD/LLS Staff

*To be considered for a temporary role until April 2027 applicants must be on a current talent pool at the grade of this advertised vacancy or higher OR have been comparatively assessed at the grade of this advertised vacancy or higher. Comparative assessment means you were appointed through an externally advertised role.

If you do not meet these requirements you may be considered for a temporary role for a period of up to 12 months.

What youll be doing

As a Technical Officer Pastures youll provide essential technical support to the Project Leader across a range of field glasshouse and livestock experiments as well as trial data management. You will support the day-to-day running of the project and play a key role in supervising up to two technical assistants or casual staff.

Your responsibilities will include staff

  • Leading collecting and accurately recording research data and information
  • Coordinating field sample collections and ensuring quality sample evaluation.
  • Undertaking frequent fieldwork in varying weather conditions at remote sites
  • Operating and maintaining key equipment and databases
  • Ensuring all work aligns with WHS and quality management procedures

Who were looking for:

Were looking for someone with strong technical skills excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently in the field. Youll be organised confident in leading others and committed to maintaining high research standards.

To be successful in this role youll have:

  • A current MR licence (HR Licence preferred) to transfer machinery and equipment to the field.
  • Experience in pasture livestock or agricultural trials
  • Proficiency in Microsoft programs including Word and Excel
