Main Responsibilities
The Country Programme Coordinator Suriname is responsible for coordination of the SFL programme in Suriname ensuring positive relations with stakeholders implementing safeguards supervising activities and delivering project results. Additionally the role involves donor reporting managing consultants collaborating with the WWF-Guianas team and achieving annual programme outcomes.
Major Duties
Programme coordination
- Serve as the in-country and on-the-ground coordinator for the SFL programme in Suriname managing day-to-day operations ensuring smooth communication among stakeholders and overseeing project activities.
- Supervise the Project Technical Officer(s) for the overall delivery of the programmes success across.
- Provide technical expert guidance on specific aspects of the programme and especially in-country perspectives and direction.
Programme Execution and Planning
- Provide day-to-day supervision and coordination of project activities including partner grants and ensure guidance and coordination with programme staff and technical experts even those based in other countries.
- Support the recruitment and management of consultants facilitating formal engagement (grant making) of partners to ensure efficient project execution in line with project outcomes and outputs.
- Prepare in-country annual workplans field trips and other engagements for the success of the programme.
Collaboration and Coordination
- Build and maintain positive relations with the project team partners consultants and beneficiaries through regular meetings updates and fostering a collaborative environment.
- Collaborate closely with the WWF-Guianas team supervising team members assigned to the project providing feedback and advice to the IPM and integrating into the WWF-Guianas Technical Team to contribute to the programmes annual outcomes.
- Participate in team meetings share insights and support collective goals.
- Maintain a close and strong working relationship with the IPM to ensure clear roles and responsibilities and facilitate smooth project implementation in both countries.
Monitoring and Reporting
- Contribute to the design update and implementation of the monitoring and evaluation system to measure project performance ensuring the project meets established KPIs and adjusting strategies as needed.
- Contribute to donor reporting by working closely with the International Programme Manager (IPM) and programme team preparing and submitting detailed reports that meet donor requirements and providing insights into project progress and challenges.
Communication and Visibility
- In close collaboration and input to the Communication team support programme visibility of the results and lessons learnt especially to local partners and community beneficiaries.
- Ensure clear and timely communication within WWFs and the programme specific teams and with the donor.
Environmental and Social Safeguards
- Implement environmental and social safeguards as guided by the IPM proactively identifying and mitigating risks to ensure the project adheres to ethical and regulatory standards.
Other Duties
- Perform any other tasks reasonably assigned by the Supervisor.
- Set up a clear documentation storage system for audit purposes.
Qualifications :
- Academic degree in Economics Agricultural Economics Natural Resource Management Sustainable Development or related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in project management preferably within the NGO sector.
- 3 years engaging with government civil society and private sector on conservation and sustainability.
- Expertise in natural resources economics sustainable economies green enterprises or low carbon development.
- Understanding of biodiversity legal and institutional framework in Suriname.
- Strong knowledge of Suriname (and Guyana) political social and economic context with credible and ethical standing in the society.
- Demonstrated experience in working effectively with local communities governments non-profit organizations and the private/corporate sector to build partnerships and achieve common objectives.
- Proven experience with AFD (or comparable) (procurement) policies.
- Relevant knowledge in one or more areas: Ecology Forestry Conservation Community Engagement particularly in Suriname.
- Proven capacity to lead team(s) with excellent communication and organizational skills and strong leadership and coaching abilities.
- Proven capacity to build relationships with government business civil society and the donor community.
- Strong advocacy and public relations skills with the ability to prepare advocacy and communications products.
- Strong knowledge of environmental and social safeguards.
- Excellent computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in Dutch English and Sranan Tongo.

Working Relationships
Internal
The Country Programme Coordinator Suriname will work under the supervision of the International Programme Manager and will supervise Programme staff based in country of residence. The Programme Coordinator Suriname will collaborate with WWFs management technical and operation team members across Suriname and
Guyana and with other Network Offices.
External
