Job Description

The Human Resource Coordinator will manage the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department and is responsible for tasks in the following functional areas: departmental development Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) employee relations benefits compensation and employment or HR-related insurance. The HR Coordinator will also serve as the Ethics and EEO Officer.


SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participates in the negotiation of benefit contracts and costs revising benefit plan as required enrolling employees and discontinuing benefits as necessary.
  • Participates in the development of human resource policies and procedures.
  • Ensures that personnel and compensation practices are following state and federal laws and regulations and Board policy.
  • Answers employee questions regarding interpretation of employment and benefit policies; Assists employees with problem resolution.
  • Keeps record of insurance coverage pension plan and personnel transactions such as hires promotions transfers and terminations.
  • Assists with payroll processing.
  • Files and manages Workers Compensation claims.
  • Prepares reports or statements pertaining to employee benefits.
  • Assists with and maintains wage and compensation programs.
  • Assists with human resource solutions by collecting and analyzing information recommending courses of action.
  • Ensures compliance with USCIS Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification; periodically audits Forms I-9.
  • Prepares and administers FMLA ADA COBRA correspondence and forms along with other actions in accordance with federal or state law.
  • Complies with federal state and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Compiles and prepares data in relation to and preparation of EEO and Affirmative Action reporting/plan requirements.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining professional networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Assists with employee performance software review process.
  • Helps implement new pay and/or benefits programs.
  • Makes recommendations for process improvements to improve efficiency.
  • Conducts exit interviews and new hire orientation.
  • Responsible for filing mailing and record keeping for all related programs.
  • Assists with recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Trains new and current employees on Diversity Equity and Inclusion and Ethics in the workplace.
  • Performs related duties as required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Preferred minimum of associate degree in human resource management Business Administration or related discipline and 3 years experience in HR; some experience with local state or federal government administration and accounting practices; graduation from an accredited college or university with specialization in human resource or business administration. Excellent oral and written communication skills expected. Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure and demonstrated strong interpersonal skills. Comprehensive knowledge of human resource management and computer software such as Microsoft Office (Word Excel Outlook) Microsoft Windows; ability to write clear and concise reports memoranda directives and letters; ability to accomplish assigned administrative tasks with a minimum of supervision and with general direction.


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Employment is contingent upon successfully completing and passing a pre-employment drug screen. Employment is contingent on a clean driving record that allows employees to be covered by Jaunts insurance.
