Job Description

We are looking for a suitably qualified Community Development Officer to join the team. You will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of Glenorchy City Councils Community Strategy key priorities through place-based initiatives collaborative partnerships and inclusive programming.

This exciting and rewarding role sits within the Community Department and works closely across Council and with community stakeholders to build a connected inclusive and resilient Glenorchy. The successful candidate will play an important role in empowering community-led change and supporting programs that reflect Glenorchys diversity pride and potential.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in community development youth work or a related field including experience with planning reporting and program evaluation.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing delivering and evaluating inclusive community and youth programs using trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build partnerships and collaborate effectively across community government and service networks.
  • Experience in facilitating meetings working groups or co-design processes including working with volunteers.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic team environment.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities including the capacity to recommend and implement practical solutions.

Qualifications/Licences required:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in community development youth work social sciences or a related discipline.
  • Current Working with Vulnerable People Registration (WWVP).
  • Current Drivers Licence.

Position Hours: Full-Time 75 hours fortnight.
