Job Description

THE POSITION

You will make a real difference every day by providing support and hope to the most vulnerable populations in Beaver County. We need you apply today! The purpose of this position is to provide social services to children and their families where child abuse and/or neglect have been reported and/or substantiated. This position is hired through Beaver County.



DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The person hired for this position must be able to work with diverse populations those of varying socioeconomic levels and families with multi-system concerns using a strength-based approach. Caseworkers may be placed into various units within the agency such as: intake on-going services teen services intensive services placement and permanency. All units require excellent organizational skills computer adeptness and the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Criminal and child abuse background checks are required. The position may require the employee to work irregular hours including some weekends.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday - Friday with a 1-hour lunch.
  • The work hours include mandatory travel time overtime and after-hourswork.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; or
  • Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or
  • A bachelors degree with a social welfare major; or
  • A bachelors degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology social welfare psychology gerontology criminal justice or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social service agency; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology social welfare psychology gerontology criminal justice or other related social sciences.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

Legal Requirements:
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including but not limited to PA State Police clearance PA Child Abuse history clearance and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
