The City of Marquette GIS internship is focused on mapping and documenting features in the City as needed. Interns will use GPS technology to collect precise geospatial points and capture photos of features contributing to a comprehensive digital database. Responsibilities include fieldwork data entry and GIS software use to organize and analyze collected data. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented comfortable with outdoor work and have basic GIS or GPS experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following:
Conduct fieldwork within the City limits using GPS/GIS technology.
Capture clear high-quality photos for documentation.
Enter collected data into a digital database accurately and efficiently.
Ensure data integrity and attention to detail in all mapping and documentation tasks.
Maintain equipment including GPS devices and cameras ensuring proper functionality.
Collaborate with team members to ensure consistency and completeness of the database.
Follow safety protocols and guidelines while working outdoors in various weather conditions.
