What will you do

As the Trainee Events Officer you will report to the Memorial Hall Venue Coordinator and support the coordination and delivery of events from concerts and workshops to festivals and civic functions. Your tasks will include:

  • Assisting with even logistics bookings and communication with hirers artists and organisers.
  • Helping prepare event materials such as run sheets risk assessments permits and schedules.
  • Supporting venue setup and pack-down including furniture signage and audio-visual equipment.
  • Providing venue support at selected events (sometimes after hours) to support smooth delivery and gain real-world experience.
  • Updating calendars booking records and venue usage data in line with Council procedures.
  • Contributing to promotional activities including print materials digital communication channels and updating event listings.

What do you need

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has completed a minimum of Year 10 and is ready to enrol in a Certificate III in Events.
  • Is genuinely interested in community events arts and culture and enjoys being part of something that brings people together.
  • Has confidence to use or eagerness to learn how to use digital tools and social media.
  • Has a flexible attitude and the ability to help with light manual tasks like setting up furniture signage and catering equipment.
  • Pays attention to detail and has a sense of pride in helping create events that make a real difference in the community.

Important Information

A Group Assessment Centre will be held at Councils Depot at 14 Alex Pike Drive Raleigh on Tuesday 17 June 2025 from 8:30am to approx. 1:30pm and all shortlisted applicants must attend. Invitations will go out by email week commencing 9 June 2025. You will need to RSVP by 13 June 2025. If you progress to the next stage following the Assessment Centre you will be required to attend a pre-employment psychometric assessment on either 19 or 20 June 2025. Please ensure that you keep checking your emails so you dont miss any important information. The dates outlined above cannot be rescheduled so please ensure you are available if required.

Weekly wage is dependent on age and will range from $584.20 for a 16 year old to $803.30 for 18 years.
