Job Description

Office: Facilities Management

Team: Electrical Division - Planning Engineering Sustainability and Environment

Reports to: Assistant Director of Planning Engineering Sustainability and Environment

Position Overview:

The Electrical Division is divided into 3 sub-divisions consisting of Fire Alarms Security Systems and Electrical. This posting is for a Senior Supervisor of Electrical in the Electrical Division.

The Senior Supervisor of Electrical will be responsible for the daily operation maintenance and repairs of all electrical systems in assigned buildings. Duties include but are not limited to; diagnosing troubleshooting and repairs of electrical distribution systems including switchboards panelboards contactors relays and control devices. Regular testing of emergency generators and life safety systems operation and testing of automatic transfer switches to comply with mandated inspections and certifications.

The Senior Electrical Supervisor will perform regular inspections of interior and exterior lighting systems to ensure proper operation. In addition perform regular maintenance and repairs to public address and central clock systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Initiate review and respond to work order requests for electrical alterations and repairs Assign and oversee repairs by contractors
  • review or develop plans and specifications for new and existing electrical systems prepare contract documents for public bid
  • Calculating estimates of the costs involved in making repairs and alterations to electrical systems

Qualifications - Required:

Education and Related Work Experience

  • Commonwealth of Massachusetts Journeyman Electricians license required Knowledge of Massachusetts electrical codes
  • Ability to communicate with school administrators and contractors concerning work in school buildings
  • Five years or more experience in electrical installations and maintenance
  • Demonstrate competency in safe working procedures in and around all levels of electrical systems

Qualifications - Preferred:

  • Commonwealth of Massachusetts Master Electricians License preferred Experience in a public school system and/or familiarity with Boston and Boston Public Schools.
