Job Description

Job Title: Cafeteria ManagerReports to: Student Nutrition CoordinatorAssignment: Assigned CampusesWage/Hour Status: Non-exemptPay Grade: $16.50-22.50/hour 187 daysDate Revised: 2025.05.22Terms of Employment:This FLSA non-exempt position (hourly) is on a work calendar of 187 days per school year. Pay is based on applicable Purpose:Manage campus food service operation. Oversee the work of other child nutrition employees train as needed and make evaluative assessments. Ensure that appropriate quantities of food are delivered and served for lunch and breakfast. Work with a food service vendor to deliver serve and record meals served. Meet time constraints set by menu requirements established by campus schedules. Meet health codes. Work with food service vendor employees to deliver meals to students. Prepare and serve school diploma or GEDFood manager certification Meet State of Texas Professional Standards for Child Nutrition WorkersExperience:Completion of a sanitation course before or during the first year as managerExperience in institutional food service operations is preferredSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Knowledge of methods materials equipment and appliances used in food preparationAbility to manage personnelEffective planning and organizational skillsAbility to understand food preparation and safety instructionsWorking knowledge of kitchen equipment and food production proceduresAbility to perform basic arithmetic operationsMajor Responsibilities and Duties:(The following statements describe the general purpose and responsibilities assigned and should not be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities skills efforts or working conditions that may be assigned or skills that may be required.)Cafeteria ManagementHandle and record cashier/ticket receiving functions with a food service vendor in processing student meal necessary with serving and preparing food according to meal schedules policies and and promote portion control and proper use of storage and handling of food items and supplies. Maintain a clean and organized storage daily activities in food preparation serving area and all serving schedules and serve all food items according to menu specifications defined by policies and cooperatively with campus principals to accommodate temporary schedule changes special serving requirements and to resolve personnel and assist vendor employees at the campus level promoting efficiency morale and Reports and LawEnsure that food is produced safely and is of high quality according to policies and accurate reports of daily food and submit accurate information for payroll reporting (time cards tardiness and absenteeism).SafetyEnsure that food items are stored in a safe and hazard-free and enforce standards of cleanliness health and safety following health and safety codes and regulations. Maintain a safe work tools and equipment according to prescribed safety garbage collection containers and areas neat and unsafe conditions in the work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to the supervisor personal appearance and and EquipmentEnsure that appropriate quantities of food and supplies are available through daily orders and periodic logs on all equipment maintenance required within campus food preventive maintenance and report needed equipment replacement of existing equipment to meet food service annual physical equipment and supplies train cafeteria workers from food vendors and make sound recommendations about the assignment discipline and retention of food vendor duties as Responsibilities:Manage assist and cooperatively work with food service vendor workers assigned to campus Conditions:Tools/Equipment Used: Standard large and small kitchen equipment and tools including vertical food warmers steam table sharp cutting tools/knives milk cooler commercial refrigerator ice machine sinks storage cabinets and food/utility cart Posture: Standing; kneeling/squatting bending/stoop pushing/pulling and twistingMotion: Walking grasping/squeezing wrist flexion/extension reaching/overhead reachingLifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (15-20 pounds)Environment: Work inside a limited modified commercial kitchen environment; some exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures noise vibration work with hands in Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stressArlington Classics Academy does not discriminate on the basis of race color gender religion national origin age disability or any other basis prohibited by statements above are intended to describe major job functions of this position and are not intended to represent an exhaustive list of all responsibilities duties and skills required.
