Baylor University is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to support the mission and vision of the University within the School of Engineering and Computer Science at the Nano-Optics and Advanced Health-Sensing (NOAHS) Lab by focusing on heterogeneous integration of transparent conductive oxides (TCOs) with silicon photonics which will be primarily funded by a National Science Foundation (NSF) Partnerships for Innovation (PFI) Postdoc Research Associate will collaborate with Intel Corp. and other silicon photonics companies for the development of ultra-low voltage high bandwidth silicon photonic modulators driven by TCO materials. This project will seek technology transfer and commercialization and the postdoc will have the opportunity to participate the NSF i-Corp training program to develop essential skills for startup companies. The position is renewable for two or more years based on performance and availability of continued funding.
The NOAHS Lab is led by Prof. Alan Wang () who is the Mearse Endowed Chair Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. During his research career Prof. Wang has raised over $10 M dollars in externally funded research from the NSF AFOSR DARPA NIH NASA and Army Research Office along with industry sponsors such as Intel and Hewlett Packard. He has more than 120 journal publications and 120 conference presentations including 18 plenary/invited presentations. He also holds eight granted or pending U.S. patents. Prof. Wang is a fellow member of SPIE and senior member of Optica and IEEE.

A Doctoral Degree in Electrical Engineering Optical Engineering Applied Physics or a closely related field is required. Strong background in optics/photonics and solid-state physics and research experience with integrated photonics silicon photonics cleanroom fabrication and optical device characterization is who are ABD are invited to apply if their degree is conferred by the start of the fellowship.
