Job Description
Located 20km west of Sydney on Dharug country with a population of 240000 residents Cumberland City Council is the fourth most populous Local Government Area in Greater Sydney. ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The Verge Mowing team focuses on managing the daily presentation of the public domain within the Cumberland City Area ensuring that it is maintained and presented so that residents and visitors are proud of the area and it meets their expectations.
The Team Member Verge Mowing will be held accountable to respond to high priority requests. The position will ensure Councils verge streetscapes and park areas are maintained to a level that meets the communities expectations through a quick response program utilising the industrys best practice.
The successful applicant will require:
- Proven ability to develop collaborative relationships with peers customers and community organisations and an ability to work as part of a team with good interpersonal skills
- Ability to demonstrate a strong customer focus with sound customer service skills and the ability to embrace a system of change and continual improvement
- Verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively complete relevant administration tasks associated with the position including the use of electronic devices to complete projects.
- Good knowledge of the safe operations of Councils small plant and equipment to undertake mowing edging and hedging
- Current class C drivers licence
- Current Traffic Control and Traffic Management Implementer card (also known as Traffic Control Combo course)
- General Construction Induction Card (white card)
- AQF3 ChemCert Chemical Accreditation.

About this role:
- Permanent full-time position
- 35 hour week
- One week of night shift per month
- Access to Councils 9 day fortnight Rostered Day Off (RDO) arrangement
- Located at Councils Auburn Depot with frequent travel required across Council worksites and may be required to work across any of Councils work locations
Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
- Grade 5 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1121.69 to $1289.95 per week plus 11.5% superannuation
- The commencing salary will be negotiated taking into consideration the successful applicants qualifications skills and experience related to the role
What youll need to have for this role:
- The right to live and work in Australia
- Be able to provide information for pre-employment checks required for the position including attending a physical pre-employment medical examination as required
- Participate in health monitoring as outlined in the risk assessment for this position and Councils Health Monitoring Procedure as required
- Provide evidence of your vaccination status as part of the employment screening process in accordance with Councils COVID-19 Vaccination Procedure.
