We are looking for a creative and collaborative professional to lead existing and new co-curricular programming and events that promote student belonging spark meaningful dialogue and deepen cultural awareness. In this role the ideal candidate will play a key role in collaborating with campus partners to develop student leaders and helping to equip them with the intercultural and global skills essential for success in todays interconnected world. Some remote/flexible work hours are possible.
The successful candidate with guidance from the Senior Director is responsible for the support and development of campus collaborative programming/events dialogues training and education and delivery of marketing and communications efforts. Guided by frameworks of Internationalization at home (IaH) and global citizenship this individual will help to lead and support a portion of the Global Engagement student portfolio for the Center.
This may include:
-Design and deliver curricular co-curricular and programmatic experiences that build students intercultural skills and capacity to be globally conscious leaders. This includes design instruction and facilitation of mini-courses dialogues workshops and programs
-Oversee and further develop the globally focused learning living community including all programmatic logistical curricular co-curricular and teaching aspects of the program
-Coordinate and/or support small and large scale events
-Oversee and further develop the peer education program which integrates a social justice education focus
-Lead and further develop Centers student employee program by integrating high impact experiential learning practices
-Facilitate dialogues that explore intercultural and global themes and facilitate presentations/workshops that help to build dialogic skills amongst students
-Foster students personal and cultural development and inspire and cultivate their global awareness and engagement
-Continually review adapt and/or propose new efforts
-Supervise and cultivate Graduate Assistant and student employees
About the Global and Intercultural Affairs (GIA) Center:
GIA imagines a community of empowered global citizens building a just peaceful and sustainable world. Guided by our Marinianst values the GIA Center provides leadership strategic direction coordination and support for the internationalization and global learning of campus. In collaboration with other University departments partners and communities we offer innovative programs and services to enhance global and intercultural education support student success for all students and promote diversity and inclusion.
-Bachelors degree
-Minimum 2 years of work experience focused on intercultural global social justice education and/or experiential learning community engagement
-Intercultural sensitivity and ability to relate easily effectively and equitably with people from diverse cultural and intersectional backgrounds that span within and beyond the U.S
-Experience with program or event development
-Highly organized detail-oriented and ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects set priorities and meet deadlines while maintaining high performance
-Successful collaboration and relationship-building skills
-Strong oral and written communication skills
-Commitment to student success and international education
-Ability and willingness to work some nights and weekends
-Knowledge of and sensitivity to a Catholic and Marianist work environment
While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:
-Masters degree
-Three or more years of work experience focused on intercultural global social justice education and/or experiential learning community engagement
-Demonstrated understanding of student development theory leadership development and/or frameworks grounded in Internationalization at Home (IaH) global citizenship intercultural/global learning
-Demonstrated curriculum development and teaching experience
-Demonstrated experience with design and facilitation of dialogues
-Ability to cultivate engagement and collaboration with students and colleagues to move ideas forward and create impact
-Ability to thrive in a highly collaborative team-based educational environment that values high expectations integrity and leadership while possessing a positive and growth mindset
-Experience developing content for marketing and communications efforts
-Demonstrated technical literacy including the ability to effectively use digital tools and learning technologies to design facilitate and evaluate programs
-Mentorship and/or supervision experience of students
