SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST
Responsible To: Director for Exceptional Children Programs
Primary Job Responsibility: To serve as a psychoeducational consultant to all students through consultation counseling assessment; to improve the school educational experience of those students with possible mental physical and emotional handicaps through a program of child evaluation and testing.
Essential Functions of Job Responsibility:
Implements all rules and regulations policies and administrative guidelines as adopted by the Board of Education.
Participates in Admissions and Release Committees to interpret test results and plan appropriate programs for students with special needs.
Contributes as needed to staff support teams of respective schools.
Conducts psychological examinations of referred students.
Writes appropriate psychological reports.
Interprets diagnoses to school personnel other concerned professionals parents and the student.
Makes recommendations on ways to assist a student referred for evaluation especially 504 situations.
Participates in professional development programs.
Participates in case conferences when referred students are involved or as requested.
Attends scheduled staff meetings and committee meetings as needed.
Keeps abreast of new developments in the field.
Develops and initiates survey programs for continuous identification of exceptional children.
Confers with parents and area physicians as necessary.
Performs such other duties as may be assigned by the Director for Exceptional Children Services the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction or the Superintendent.
Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
Maintains a professional and appropriate appearance.
Adheres to the professional code of ethics.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
-Valid State Teacher Certificate
