Knowledge and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of:
Basic subjects taught in the districts schools including
arithmeticgrammarspelling language and reading.
Safe practices in the classroom including Discovery practice.
Correct English usage grammar spelling punctuation and vocabulary.
Interpersonal skills using the skills of prompt polite prepared
produce participate positive attitude.
Basic record-keeping techniques.
2. Ability to:
Learn youth guidance principles and practices.
Communicate and maintain effective relationships with students parents
staff and the public
Perform routine clerical duties in support of classroom activities.
Print and write legibly.
Add subtract multiply and divide quickly and accurately.
Understand and follow oral and written directions.
Learn procedures functions and limitations of assigned duties.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Learn to apply and explain policies and procedures related to school and
program activities.
Work cooperatively with others.
Monitor observe and report students behavior according to approved
policies and procedures.
Operate instructional and office equipment.
3. Education and Experience:
Minimum of 64 semester hours of college credit and some experience
working with children in an organized setting.
4. Such additional qualifications as the Superintendent or Board may find
appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: High School Principal
SUPERVISES: NA
BASIC FUNCTION: Provides instructional support and support to individuals assigned to theIndividually Centered Education Program.
REPRESENTATIVE PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Tutors individuals or small groups of students reinforcing and implementing instruction asdirected by the directing classroom teacher.
2. Monitors and reports behavior of students according to approved procedures and reportsprogress regarding student performance and behavior to appropriate staff.
3. Performs routine duties such as utilization of instructional and classroom materials; operates copy machines; maintains Individually Centered Education records; maintains attendancerecords.
4. Assists students by providing proper examples emotional support a friendly attitude andgeneral guidance.
5. Confers as needed with principals concerning instructional materials assignments etc. to meetstudent needs.
6. Assures the health and safety of students by following health and safety practices andregulations.
7. Participates in meetings and professional development training as assigned.
8. Maintains accurate records on the program and provides data to appropriate personnel.
9. Complies with policies rules and regulations of the School/s District State and Federalregulatory agencies.
10. Responsibilities Specific to HCPS Assignment:
A. Adheres to the KY School Personnel Code of Ethics.
B. Implements & utilizes the Discovery model with students.
C. Utilizes Infinite Campus the KY student information system.
11. Performs such other professional tasks (within reason) as may be assigned by the supervising principals or the Superintendent.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the Superintendentand the Board.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of theBoards policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
